Politically Homeless in America

In my youth, it was not uncommon to find both Republicans and Democrats within a single American family. Political debates were a fixture at the dinner table, often spirited but underpinned by a shared sense of national purpose. However, in recent years, political allegiances have hardened into something more akin to religious convictions. Marriages between members of opposing parties have become rarer, and political identity has grown inseparable from personal identity. Today, political discourse is less about the exchange of ideas and more about tribal loyalty, leaving little room for those of us who do not fully align with either side.
